Welcome 

My name is Katie Smith and I'm exceptionally proud and honoured to be the Headteacher at Kanes Hill Primary. I have worked at Kanes Hill for over 20 years and this is attributed to our amazing children, inspirational staff and caring community. Kanes Hill is a very special place to work and learn. Pupils really do thrive in our nurturing community – both academically and socially. We aspire for every child to gain in confidence, try new things and learn skills that will last them a lifetime. Education plays a significant role in everyone’s lives and the fact that your child’s learning journey could begin with us, fills me with immense joy. Our school is one big family, and we welcome everyone with open arms.

We are part of the Inspire Learning Partnership which is a small multi-academy trust who believes in transforming lives and building futures. Our family of schools relentlessly pursue excellence, and we place children at the heart of everything we do.

We empower all the children to be the best they can be, which includes creating curious minds, encouraging a thirst for learning and a willingness to take risks and a sense of pride in their achievements.

We nurture all children and encourage them to be polite, well-mannered & respectful of themselves, each other and of our community. We want the children in our care to grow to be the best version of themselves.

Our curriculum is diverse, innovative and steeped in memorable moments. It is designed to develop curiosity in the world around us and to equip our pupils for the next stage of their education. Beyond the curriculum, we offer the widest range of enrichment opportunities, including a variety of clubs and activities, school trips and visits, leadership roles and responsibilities, workshops and events. These aim to extend pupils’ learning, ignite their passions and interests and acquire key skills for the future.

Music is fully embedded into life at the school as it is a proud specialism of ours. Pupils benefit from a specialist Music teachers and our strong partnership with Southampton Music Hub; and there are several occasions throughout the school year for pupils to showcase their talents, from school productions and music concerts to even performing at the O2 Arena!

Our team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff have high expectations and encourage our pupils to believe in themselves, to take risks, and to be resilient and hardworking in order to achieve and succeed both academically and personally. We get to know each and every one of our children and as a result, we are able to inspire each child to achieve their personal best.

Our success lies in the close and safe community that flourishes here at Kanes Hill, and the excellent relationships that exist between staff, pupils, parents and the local community.
